Race relations on the improve in South Africa

23 March 2010

“The majority of South Africans recently polled felt that relationships between the various race groups in South
Africa are improving”, said Anneke Greyling, a political analyst at Ipsos Markinor. This trend is further
evidence that highly racial statements by individuals like Julius Malema is not at all representative of the
prevailing opinion in South Africa. “It is very comforting to see that the trend has continuously improved over
the last few years and that the percentage of South Africans with a positive feeling far outweighs the prophets
of gloom on this topic.”
